Terms of Use
Last updated 27 August 2026. These terms are an agreement between you (the parent, guardian or authorised adult who holds the account) and Maths Scout. By creating an account you agree to them.
1. Who can hold an account
You must be at least 18 years old and be the parent, guardian or otherwise authorised to create a learner profile for each child you add. Children must not create their own accounts. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including activity in Child Mode.
2. Your responsibilities as the parent
- Keep your password and parent PIN private, and don't share them with your child.
- Supervise your child's use of the service as you judge appropriate for their age.
- Only enter information about your child that is needed for learning.
- Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
3. Educational service — not a guarantee of results
Maths Scout is a maths practice and tutoring tool. It is not a school, not a registered education provider, and not a substitute for a qualified teacher, psychologist, or any diagnostic or medical assessment. Our "Maths Check" is an estimate of what your child can currently do, used to choose lessons — it is not a formal educational assessment, IQ test, or diagnosis of a learning difficulty.
Explanations and hints are produced with the help of AI. We design the maths itself and check every answer against our own logic, but wording can still occasionally be unclear or unhelpful. We do not guarantee any particular improvement in grades, test results or school performance, and we do not promise alignment with any specific school's program.
4. Subscriptions, free trial and cancellation
- We offer a single subscription plan with a 7-day free trial for new accounts. The current price is shown in the app before you subscribe.
- Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and renews automatically each month until cancelled.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorise recurring charges to your chosen payment method.
- You can cancel at any time from Parent Mode. Cancelling stops future charges and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- We generally do not refund part-used periods, except where a refund is required by the Australian Consumer Law.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice to your account email. Continuing after that date means you accept the new price.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share, resell or provide access to your account outside your own household.
- Attempt to access other accounts, bypass the parent PIN or access controls, or probe or attack our systems.
- Scrape, bulk-download or copy our questions, curriculum content or explanations, or use them to train another model or build a competing service.
- Upload unlawful, harmful or offensive content, or misuse the service in any way.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where required for security or legal reasons.
6. Intellectual property
We own (or license) the Maths Scout name, logo, mascots, design, questions, curriculum structure and software. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own household's learning while your account is active. Nothing else is transferred to you.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update, change or remove features, and we may carry out maintenance that makes the service temporarily unavailable. We may discontinue the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice and stop charging you.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to the section below, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of educational or economic opportunity arising from your use of the service. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where we are permitted to do so, our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
10. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Questions about these terms: connect@mathsscout.com.au.
